It's May and time for the annual Police Unity Tour, a fund-raiser to support the Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and Museum. RPD Officers Curtis Bennett, Ben Woodruff and DPS Sergeant serve pancakes in lieu of traffic tickets. Come out for an "arresting" evening of pancakes and fun.
Forney thought, "If we build it, they will come." They built it, but "they" (new home owners) didn't come. If or when Rockwall builds a multi-million-dollar ball park, are we building it for OUR children or for people who don't live here? It's not that our people don't want more ball fields. It's really a matter of asking ourselves, "Should we add MORE debt to our city during a time of economic uncertainty?"
When a friend and I talked yesterday at COSTCO, I related to him I don’t oppose the bond propositions on their respective merits, but on economic uncertainty.
Polls open today for early voting at the Elections Office for city and school district elections. There is a City of Rockwall bond election with five propositions. They're all good propositions, unfortunately their passage at this time is, I believe, unwise. I will vote NO to all five propositions and I encourage my fellow taxpayers to do likewise.
Rockwall County Judge Jerry Hogan warns that our country continues a downward spiral into an abyss of debt. A corollary to this downward spiral is the inflationary spiral I have previously discussed. Since governments have come to operate in deficit mode, the only means to arresting these deadly spirals (debt vs. inflation) is to STOP BORROWING MONEY AND CUT SPENDING.
