National Day of Prayer 2012 – A Rockwall County Tradition

The Prayer Breakfast continues a tradition started by the first Continental Congress in 1775, revived by Abraham Lincoln in 1863 and made official annual event by a joint resolution of Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman in 1952. Later, Congress amended, and President Ronald Reagan signed the amendment, setting the National Day of Prayer on the first Thursday of May.
