Business friend, Ken Sterling of Horizon Auto Center here in Rockwall, Texas, sent me a link to the Independence Day Quiz. Yes, Independence Day has come and gone, but our Constitution, our history and our republican framework of government continue as they have for 236 years.
The quiz is completely anonymous and it’s set for evaluation by age group. Answer 30 questions to discover how much you know.
The United Nations “Programme of Action on Small Arms and Light Weapons” begins its Second Review Conference, today, August 27th.
The “United Nations Programme of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects” will:
Enact tougher licensing requirements on gun sales and ownership, making it almost impossible for you, an individual, to own a firearm
Require the government to confiscate firearms owned by individuals
Place further restrictions on the sale of arms
Create an international gun registry
The National Association for Gun Rights read the draft of the treaty and said, “After you strip away all of the flowery language of this treaty, it comes down to a completely open-ended attempt to put United Nations bureaucrats in charge of firearms policy worldwide, usurping the authority of countries to set their own policies.”
The U.N. wants to be in control of firearms all over the world. Who would be allowed to own guns: The government of course and no one else.
“Impossible”, you say? Let’s remember who is in the White House: a lawless, dictatorial Barack Obama who snubs his nose at the rule of law and tramples the Constitution.
I ask you to contact your Congressional Delegation today, this morning. Tell them to support S. 2205 and H.R. 4846, bills that will protect Americans from any U.N. treaty and keep our sovereignty in place.
Natural Right to Life Necessarily Gives License to Self Defense
I wrote Senator John Cornyn to oppose the UN Small Arms Treaty and imposition of unconstitutional restrictions on firearm ownership.
As do so many Americans, the senator associates firearm ownership with hunting and home defense from criminals. It’s not that these aspects of gun ownership are not valid, the problem is he fails to comprehend why the founding fathers added the Second Amendment.
Our Second Amendment right to bear arms has its direct antecedent in the English Bill of Rights which compressed the various reasons for owning a firearm into a right as a result of the government’s efforts to disarm its citizens. Events in English history provided many of the seeds that would become the fruit that we know as our Constitutional rights, among them the right to bear arms. – Cliff Stearns [Click on this link to read more from the St. Louis University Public Law Review]
The second amendment has nothing to do with fishing, hunting and crime prevention, though they come into play in these matters every day of our lives. The reason we have this natural (God-given) right to “keep and bear arms” is to protect ourselves from government tyranny. There – I said it.
After the liberals in power in Great Britain and Australia successfully couched gun ownership in terms of crime prevention, the next step was gun confiscation. Citizens of both countries are now disarmed and they are warning us to avoid allowing the same thing happen to us.
You see, we, as a nation, are the last and best hope to billions of people all around the globe. We enjoy this situation whereby people want to break into America – no one seems in a hurry to break out. It’s really very easy to leave this extraordinary country; getting in is the difficult thing to do.
Herewith, Senator John Cornyn’s response to my contact form message.

Thank you for contacting me about federal firearms laws. I appreciate having the benefit of your comments on this matter.
It is essential to safeguard the law-abiding citizen’s constitutional right to own and use firearms designed for legitimate purposes such as hunting, target shooting, collecting, and self-protection. Restricting this right runs counter to the intent of our Founding Fathers, who expressly guaranteed that citizens would retain the right to keep and bear arms.
As a former Texas Supreme Court Justice and Attorney General, I have firsthand knowledge of crime-fighting policies that work, and I believe that citizens’ Second Amendment rights should not be restricted because of the actions of criminals. Rather, we must respect the rights of law-abiding citizens and focus our attention on the source of violent crime: criminals who use firearms to commit crimes. I believe that strictly enforcing the law and meting out longer sentences for career criminals and those who use firearms when committing crimes will reduce crime more effectively than gun or equipment bans, which primarily serve to take firearms away from law-abiding citizens.
I appreciate the opportunity to represent Texans in the United States Senate, and you may be certain that I will continue working with my colleagues to protect our Second Amendment rights. Thank you for taking the time to contact me.

Reference: Circular Firing Squad Formed Around Todd Aikin
I remember well when you and others at the top of our party pledged your support of Charlie Crist who has come out endorsing BARACK OBAMA. I remember, too, listening to a radio interview of Marco Rubio by Glenn Beck. Beck said to Rubio, “The last time I looked they (GOP leadership) have all the money.” Rubio thoughtfully replied: “Yes, and he last time I looked, we (the people of Florida) have all the votes.”
Sarah Palin joined your circular firing squad around Mr. Aikin. Some of my Facebook friends also fell into agreement with you after Sarah Palin put in her “two cents worth”. But, for the record, God gave me enough ‘gray matter’ to form my own opinions.
Senator Cornyn, I did something you haven’t done: I actually looked into the track record of Todd Aiken and found him to be an honorable, pro-life candidate from the great state of Missouri.
If you wish to take a break from that circular firing squad, I suggest you listen to this 11-minute interview of Todd Aiken by Mike Huckabee.
Let’s keep our eye on the prize, Mr. Cornyn. Your track record at picking winners isn’t as remarkable as you think. In fact, it isn’t remarkable at all. The people of Missouri will pick their Senator, not you or your senatorial election committee.
Perhaps the choice before Missouri voters is unclear to you. I suggest the choice is very clear and I expect Todd Aikin to be seated in the US Senate come January.
