Bloomberg Cancels Marathon While ‘Hunger Games’ Continue

According to CBS New York, midtown drivers are waiting up to six hours for gasoline. Tempers flair, patience wears thin as citizens become angrier by the hour. Violent acts are reminiscent of the Arab Oil Embargo back in the early 70’s.

The situation got so intense in Queens on Thursday, one man was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and menacing after he tried to cut a line at a gas station and pointed a pistol at another motorist who complained, according to the District Attorney Richard Brown.” CBS New York

Three days after Hurrican Sandy’s landfall, residents of Staten Islan plead for food and clothing.

“Please, we are going to die.”

One has to wonder where Mayor Bloomberg had his head when he initially decided the marathon too important to cancel. He showed great indifference to human suffering on Staten Island, the staging site of the marathon. After substantial public outcry, Bloomberg cancelled the race.

Two prominent men, Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, responded individually to the needs of storm victims. Obama gave a speech and directed victims to his website. Mitt Romney, on the other hand, held a storm relief event in Ohio where he collected relief supplies  and encouraged Ohioans to donate cash to the Red Cross.

MSNBC had nothing but praise for Obama’s speech and website. But, they excoriated Romney for his efforts to get the victims immediate relief. Here’s an excerpt from News Busters.

MSNBC on Tuesday totally trashed Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney for collecting food and supplies at a storm relief rally in Ohio to be sent to victims of Hurricane Sandy…”

If ever there was a clear distinction between liberal and conservative values, Hurricane Sandy drew a line in the sand, so to speak. Liberals have little regard for life; conservatives uphold the natural right foremost in the Declaration of Independence: the Right to Life.

Candidates who revere the Right to Life are people who respect all people, rich and poor, young and old, regardless their race, creed or culture.

By his response to the needs of storm Victims, Mitt Romney demonstrated his reverence for the Right to Life. Obama’s speech and website link shows something else.
