Let’s Not Haggle Over Hagel – Just Say NO!

Sen. Chuck Hagel with President Obama in Israel

Obama wants Hagel as Sec. of Defense. So what’s the big deal?

So he has offshore bank accounts and who-knows-what business interests. So what? So he opposes Israel. So what?

Shouldn’t this president get the type of people he wants to be in his Cabinet? Well, yes and no. You see we have this little Constitutional issue of accountability.

Eleven times we find the word “consent” in the Constitution. Consent is the operative word in the scheme of checks and balances. Let’s look where it appears, sixth in order, in Article II, Section 2. The president appoints officers “…with the Advice and Consent of the Senate…”

CNN, the Washington Post and other liberal propaganda ministeries of the Obama administration tout Chuck as a friend of Israel. They say his past comments on the historic homeland of the Jews have been taken out of context. Really?

Let’s look back over our shoulder to former Sen. Chuck Hagel’s 2008 biography in which he stated the Balfour Declaration of 1919 promised a homeland for Jews AND Arabs – this is factually just not so. The Balfour Declaration declares only “the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people”. His book is highly critical of Israel, while highly sympathetic toward Muslims and acutely inaccurate with respect to the facts of history.

What can you do? Contact your two U.S. Senators, first of all – I provide easy links to their webforms below. I also urge you to contact Senators Carl Levin (D) and James Inhofe (R), majority and minority chairs of the Senate committee reviewing Chuck Hagel’s qualifications for the office of Secretary of Defense. Find links to these two below, as well.

Simply state: “I oppose the nomination of Sen. Chuck Hagel to the office of Secretary of Defense. His true bias against Israel is a matter of record in his biography.”
