The ‘Castro Twins’ and their momma are members of La Raza Unida, a leftist political party, an arm of the Democrat party. La Raza Unida is a hate group that promotes a Marxist-communist model of government. Julian is sitting mayor of the city of San Antonio and Joaquin represents District 125 in the Texas Legislature.
Medicaid accounts for about 27% of the entire budget of the State of Texas. Back in 1991, it was about 14%. At the rate of growth of this money monster, it will consume about 1/3 of the entire budget in one year.
In a society where welfare recipients live in government-subsidized, air-conditioned quarters, feeding their families with food stamps and calling for more ‘benefits’ with their ObamaPhone, we have a problem, Houston.
In the years of my youth, we were dirt poor. After an ugly divorce, my mom raised three children by working 12 to 14 hours per day. For a few years, we had no car. But, momma always had food for us and she faithfully paid her Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance premiums.
We neither requested, nor were we offered any kind of welfare assistance. My two sisters and I learned about the rewards of personal initiative and hard work and we started working very young. I began mowing lawns at the ripe old age of 7 using a self-propelled Craftsman lawnmower my aunt helped me buy. She used her credit rating, but it was I who made the payments and she made darn sure I made those payments on time.
By the time I started dating my wife-to-be in High School I had already purchased and owned three automobiles. In my senior year it was off to work at the local Texaco station after dinner from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM and back to school by 8:00 AM. My only day off was Sunday.
Think not for a moment I wish any family to experience what I went through – is was no fun at all. My point is simply this: your life is what you make it. If you make your life dependent on government assistance, you are destined to a life of poverty.
As it is written in Proverbs 13:4, “Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper.”
The richest man in the world is Mexican. Carlos Slim Helu has an astonishing net worth around $73 billion. He’s called a “self-made man”. That means he worked diligently to amass his fortune. He made his own ‘pie’. Read about Carlos in this Forbes article: http://onforb.es/p0CD7G
In other words, if you find yourself needing a better life, get off your butt and look for something, anything – work you can do. Be diligent and you will make your own pie and have as many pieces of it as you wish.
Following the La Raza Unida model, your destiny is a life of poverty.
Following the Carlos Slim Helu model, your destiny is a life of prosperity.
As someone said many years ago, “I’ve been rich and I’ve been poor. Rich is better.”
