CARGO Rockwall – Citizens Association for Responsible Gun Ownership May 2013 Meeting
Topic: Long Guns – Open carry of shotguns and rifles in public
Date: May 9, 2013
Time: 6 to 7 PM
Place: Soulman’s Bar-B-Que in Rockwall
In the Great State of Texas it has always been lawful to openly carry long guns in public for any reason whatsoever. Can I carry a rifle for self protection? Yes. Can I carry a rifle for hunting? Yes. Can I carry a rifle just to assert my Second Amendment right? Absolutely.
Can I have trouble with other citizens or law enforcement? Count on it, if you don’t know the law and/or you aren’t prepared to be questioned by a policeman, you could possibly have a very memorable evening somewhere unpleasant.
Show and Tell
Bring your favorite long guns, shotguns and rifles. Briefly describe your weapons and pass them around for our members to get a feel for them. All weapons should be unloaded and cased and remove magazines. A safety volunteer will be double checking weapons for the benefit of all.
An expert on the law will explain applicable law.
Rockwall PD will be advising on what to do, what to say, what NOT to do and what NOT to say when a law enforcement officer (LEO) approaches you.
I recommend you arrive about a quarter till 6 to go through the line for food and to find a good seat in the meeting room. Enjoy dinner while learning about long guns, the long arm of the law and get to know your neighbors.
We start the meeting promptly at 6 and end it promptly at 7. You are welcome and encouraged to stay later to visit with LEO, CHL instructors, firearms dealers and others.
