As you know, the Senate passed ENDA, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, and now Democrats push it toward the House.
Speaker Boehner publicly stated he opposes the bill and staffers say it’s unlikely to come up for a vote. Here comes Senator Harry Reid, saying he’s confident House Republicans will change their minds. Being an election year, no doubt the opposition will use all means to coerce House Republicans.
It takes no Constitutional scholar to understand how this unconstitutional bill tramples three First Amendment freedoms:
- This bill, if enacted, could be used to force Christian businesses and institutions to hire persons whose sexual practices are aberrant to the institutions, thereby violating the establishment clause.
- Among many Christians with whom I share beliefs, there is a solemn obligation to obey Biblical directives given us through the Word of God, a way we describe the Bible, Old and New Testaments. Among these directives, chapter 1 of the New Testament book of Romans and chapter 14 of the New Testament book of Luke compel us to share our faith with everyone. ENDA violates the freedom of speech and the free exercise clauses.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Wise men warned America that public and legal acceptance of homosexual practices would open the door to legalizing other deviant sexual behaviors. Now, we see those warnings manifesting before our eyes.
Legitimizing homosexuality opened the way for so-called “transgender” persons. Subsequently, certain professionals now openly call for the legitimization of pedophilia [reference article from The Advocate].
California, forever on the forefront of trends, recently enacted a law that allows a boy to use a girls restroom, if the boy feels like he’s ‘transgender’. [reference article from Fox News]
I leave it to your imagination possible progressions of aberrant sexual behaviors becoming lawful and acceptable by the Democrats.
I propose what I believe is the right thing to do: wholly oppose ENDA. If Speaker Boehner and other House Republicans give into political pressure to allow ENDA to come up for a vote, I ask you to amend the bill to protect Christians from being forced to hire homosexuals, transgender persons, pedophiles and practitioners of bestiality.
