“Society’s values change all the time. There is no sure foundation in man’s wisdom. In our own country, in the twenties and the thirties, the Ivy League schools – Harvard, Yale, Princeton – they were teaching eugenics and race selection and racially-based character development. They called it “the latest social science”.
“If you read the NY Times editorial page from fifty years ago, you’ll probably be mocking and laughing at half of what’s in there. And, fifty years from now, they’ll be laughing and mocking about what you wrote, because society’s values change.
The Bible foretold a time when men would call good ‘evil’ and evil ‘good’, a process called reprobation, a state of morally unprincipled; depraved social mores.
Sexual misbehavior isn’t new. The first recorded act of sexual misbehavior is found in Genesis chapter 9 where Noah’s youngest son misbehaved sexually toward his father. Was it sodomy? Was it disobedience to not view his father’s nakedness? We’ll get the precise answer when we meet Jesus face to face. The point is this: sexual misbehavior, sin, carries significant penalties, but sexual sins are forgivable.
All manner of sexual sin was taking place in the two cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. Were they destroyed for that misbehavior? I think not. It was for unrelenting idolatry those two wicked cities were destroyed.
Very much like the Bible, our Constitution changes little over two hundred years via the amendment process, yet essentially unchanged. Supreme Court justices have ignored the letter and the spirit of our Constitution to create new laws and new rights out of thin air. Within recent days this Supreme Court overran over 5,775 years of family tradition to rule that homosexuals and, by inference, all sexual deviants have an hitherto unknown ‘right’ to marry whomever they choose. Another series of rulings on an unconstitutional law mislabeled the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) has overrun the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution.
Christians and Jews alike wonder what is dependable anymore. There is something and someone totally dependable. The something is the Bible. The someone is Jesus Christ, Yeshua Ha-Mashiach.
We will not and cannot find dependable truth in government, but we can find it in the Bible. I encourage everyone to read and study the Bible daily.
As it is written, “You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.” – Isaiah 26:3
