If not a debate, what was it? It was a forum, an opportunity for news media people to question potential candidates. Think of a White House briefing where the presidential press secretary answers questions.
A true debate has critical elements of structure, timing and a narrow field of topics;a discussion involving two opposing viewpoints (pros and cons).
We Americans need genuine debates around federalism, tyranny of bloated government, the rule of law, the role of federal courts, sound money vs. fiat currency, and a host of other topics germane to Constitutional governance.
No, I didn’t watch the Fox media circus. I had matters of higher priority on my mind, things like breathing in and out, stargazing into a cloudless Texas sky and talking about my grandchildren.
I hope there will be genuine debate. Perhaps, just maybe, we here in Rockwall should start with a debate about a quarter-billion dollar school bond, its merits and demerits. Anyone with me?
