We should use cleaner fuels, Obama says. We don’t need no stinking Keystone pipeline, he insists. Oil is dirty and very bad for the earth, he pines. It melts glaciers, causes warts, is the leading cause of divorce, leaves polar bear babies alone in this world.
If Obama truly believes oil is so bad, why does he, through a $2 billion loan by the Import-Export Bank, finance oil exploration in Brazil? Why does he rush to lift sanctions on Iranian oil?
“Through this bill, the United States Congress attempts to circumvent longstanding and proven processes for determining whether or not building and operating a cross-border pipeline serves the national interest,” Obama said in the notification to the Senate. “Despite President Obama’s moratorium on U.S. deepwater drilling in the Gulf ofMexico, the U.S. Export-Import Bank intends to guarantee $1 billion in loans to PEMEX, the Mexican state oil company, to bolster the company’s oil drilling in the region.
“The bank, which is the official American export credit agency, loaned more than $1 billion to PEMEX in 2009 — when the company was the bank’s largest borrower — in support of its drilling activities.” Fox News: U.S. Backs $1B Loan to Mexico for Oil Drilling Despite Obama Moratorium
“100 billion: That’s roughly how much the U.S. Treasury Department says Iran stands to recover once sanctions are lifted under the new nuclear deal. The money comes from Iranian oil sales and has been piling up in some international banks over the past few years. But there are questions about what Iran will do with this windfall.” NPR: Lifting Sanctions Will Release $100 Billion To Iran. Then What?
Obvious, isn’t it? Obama readily admits petroleum contributes to the well-being and prosperity of a country, so long as it isn’t America’s oil. Oil is bad for the environment, he claims, but obviously he isn’t being truthful. If oil is all that terrible for the earth, why does he readily aid Mexico, Brazil and Iran in the development and sale of their oil on world markets?
His goal of fundamentally transforming America is well down the road to completion. He intentionally hamstrings US citizens with his “pen and his telephone”, his scare tactics and his blackmail of Congress.
