Irony: The Party of the Rule of Law Undermines the Rule of Law

A friend asked via email my opinion about a posting by the “never Trump” people on why they believe Donald Trump’s nomination should be undermined by a rule change at the RNC. Full disclosure: I voted for Ted Cruz, as did 2/3 of all Republican voters in Texas.

Herewith my reply.

The author of the piece starts off saying, “we believe in ordered liberty – maximum freedom under a civil law that is minimal but clear, respected and well-enforced”. What’s he saying? He says he believes in the rule of law, playing by the rules. Is this not what he says?

The two top Republican candidates, Ted Cruz and Donald Trump, played by the rules of the national and state party rules to win the delegates they each earned. In fact, if Donald had known the rules better, his margin would have been significantly higher. I point to Colorado and Iowa primaries for examples.

Like it or not, Donald Trump won the requisite delegates to be the party nominee for president.

These people listed along with the “never Trump” groups successfully persuaded the RNC to change the rules that were in place from start to finish in the primary races. The Rules Committee cites historical rules. Historical rules were fine back when they were the rules in play.

Changing the rules now to “unbind” delegates to “vote their conscience” betrays the voters and the process.

How are the “never Trump” people and the Rule Committee following this timeless principle of the Rule of Law?

On my part, I’m working to turn out the vote. I voted for Ted Cruz in the primary race, but Trump won the delegates necessary to automatically win the nomination.

If the delegates ignore the will of the voters and the rules by which the primary races were run, I believe there will be a major revolt by the voters. The Republican Party as we have known it will be finished.

The people are angry. The people are fearful of the immediate future. The people who voted for Trump will be disenfranchised, if treachery by the Rules Committee and the “never Trump” establishment Republicans kill his nomination.

Establishment Republicans promised to de-fund ObamaCare. They said whatever it took for them to be reelected, but then gave Obama all he wanted and even more than he asked for. The 20 trillion dollar debt hanging over us now cannot be laid at the feet of Obama; it was fully authorized by a solid Republican majority in both houses of Congress. Establishment Republicans like Boehner, Ryan and others are as much to blame as Obama himself for betraying us.

Have you heard of the “Reagan Democrats” who helped Ronald Reagan win the White House? I am one of them. I was a Reagan Democrat.

Hard Democrats will vote the party nominee regardless the qualities of their candidate. It’s that way with hard Republicans. However, the great majority of voters are those in the middle. I was one of those middle voters who would routinely vote Democrat until Reagan came along. I am now classified as a Hard Republican and I understand who the Trump Democrats are and how they are effectively the “Never Hillary” people.

Now, you tell me what happens next.

My opinion: the establishment Republicans are undermining this election. Betraying the voters cannot go well for the party.

So, a crotchety old lady spouts off about a Republican presidential candidate. What’s the big deal?

I’ll tell you the big deal: Her public opposition against a political candidate violates the Code of Conduct for United States Judges. Open the link and read Canon 5: A Judge Should Refrain from Political Activity. To wit, (A) General Prohibitions. A judge should not (2) make speeches for a political organization or candidate, or publicly endorse or oppose a candidate for public office.

But, are not Supreme Court justices appointed for life? In a word. No.

Article III, Section 1 says, “The Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour…”. You see, they get to keep their jobs so long as the behave properly and the behavior of ALL federal judges is written in common English in the aforementioned Code of Conduct for United States Judges.

Well, you convinced me she behaved poorly, unethically to be exact. So, what’s to be done to be rid of her? Thanks for asking. Here’s the answer.

The U.S. Constitution, Article I, Section 3, paragraphs 6 and 7 stipulate:

The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.

Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.

The one impediment I see is the new standard of guilt being pushed by the Obama administration: If intent cannot be proven, the person who violates the law or the Constitution cannot be prosecuted. Of course, I say this last statement tongue in cheek.

The big question is how the U.S. Senate will react, respond to this ‘supreme’ failure. The following John Denver song seems appropriate.

2016: Summer of Discontent

What’s in our future? Is this sitting president fomenting civil unrest? A growing number of prominent people openly say what they are thinking and they are saying Obama and his comrade-in-arms Loretta Lynch intentionally encourage militant, anti-American gangs like the Black Panthers and the Black Lives Matter (BLM) people to riot in the streets.

Today a website came to my attention.

We can accept the above story at face value or ignore it altogether. It is consistent with Obama’s community activism and his assaults on local police departments. Know for sure he works diligently to federalize local police. That’s not good. No, not at all.

Is he or isn’t he attempting to destroy the republic? Back during his 2008 campaign, he promised to fundamentally change us. Fundamental means abrogate the Constitution and ignore the rule of law.

Notable prophets like Cindy Jacobs, Chuck Pierce, and Lance Wallnau predict major upheaval between now (July) and November elections.

What to do? Two things:

  1. Pray according to 1 Timothy 2:2.
  2. Contact your Congressional delegation

Demand your two U.S. senators and your Representative investigate the actions of Loretta Lynch.

So, you need a miracle, do you?

What is a miracle? One dictionary’s definition says, “an effect or extraordinary event in the physical world that surpasses all known human or natural powers and is ascribed to a I expect Miraclessupernatural cause.”
Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance explains ‘miracle’ as a sign, miraculous power, and abundance.
Following the successful defeat of an enemy, Moses set up an altar to mark the occasion of a miraculous victory over the Amalekites. You can read the story in Exodus chapter 17. Moses called God Jehovah-Nissi, The Lord my Banner.
Ancient Jewish wisdom, as taught by Rabbi Daniel Lapin, reveals this compound name of God means “the Lord my Miracle”. Rabbi Lapin teaches that all miracles require human participation. I give one example from the new testament, Luke 4:25-26, Jesus speaking.
“Certainly, there were many needy widows in Israel in Elijah’s time, when the heavens were closed for three and a half years, and a severe famine devastated the land. 26 Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them. He was sent instead to a foreigner—a widow of Zarephath in the land of Sidon.” We pick up the circumstances of this particular non-Jewish widow in 1 Kings 17:8-24. Read the story via this link:
In the case of Moses and the Israelites battling the Amalekites, so long as Moses was able to lift his rod, the Israeli army prevailed; when his hands dropped, they would lose. The miracle required human participation.
In the case of the widow of Zarephath, a large number of nearby widows in Israel went hungry, but Elijah passed them by. The difference in attitude between the non-Jewish widow and the Jewish widows was this: the widow of Zarephath expected a miracle.
Miracles don’t happen when you need them; they happen when you by faith expect them and you also act on your expectation. The book of James says faith without works is dead. The book of Hebrews says faith pleases God. If faith without works is dead, then faith with works is life.
I sense we will need miracles over the remaining months of this year. Lawlessness in the highest echelons of government, astronomical debt, and public unrest are the ingredients for disaster.
On my part, I expect miracles this year and I willingly participate in their manifestations.
With respect to my use of a quote by Wayne Dyer, it’s helpful to know he is not a believer in Jesus Christ, he’s not a religious man. Nonetheless, he understands the principle of expectation of miracles.
If a non-believer can have faith for miracles, what’s holding my Christian and Jewish friends from doing likewise?

When I say “Rise and shine”, I don’t mean breakfast at IHOP

Awakening at 3:00 am can do tricks to the brain. This question about the agnostic, dyslexic insomniac came to mind as I suddenly awoke at that hour.

Moral relativism and political correctness hold our fellow Americans hostage to a tyrannical government. The problem is one of authority, or better still the understanding of it.

Do we want a king to rule over us? Yes, it’s built into our DNA so to speak. One day an incorruptible king will rule over the earth with inexhaustible wisdom, infinite wisdom and perfect justice. This incorruptible king? His name is Yeshua Ha-Mashiach to the Jews, Isa to the Muslims, Jesus Christ to the Christians.

Meanwhile, we Americans have a unique system of government in all human history: a democratic republic.

The uneducated, unknowing majority do not know the order of authority God has graced to us. Allow this question: How do you know who the boss is? Is it not the person who can fire you?

Our president is not a king. He is but a hired administrator. As stipulated in the U.S. Constitution, We the People hold authority second only to God himself. Our system of government has three NOT co-equal branches of government. In order of authority, these are the Legislative branch, the Executive Branch and least of all the Judicial branch.

We the People can ‘fire’ legislators who, in turn, can fire presidents and federal judges. Only our elected representatives have been authorized to make law and tax us. The executive has only authority to execute (carry out) the laws. Our founding fathers gave us a judiciary to settle disputes, not to craft law. Therefore, as a bonus, ‘case law’ is not legitimate law.

Our country is in trouble. As Pres. George H.W. Bush once said, “deep doo doo”. If your hope rests in the hands of one or more of the three branches of federal government, then I suggest you spit into one hand and put your hope in the other to see which fills faster.

Comedian George Carlin humorously said, “I have as much authority as the Pope. I just don’t have as many people who believe it.”

Actually, we who have come into personal relationship with the Heavenly Father through the Spirit of Adoption have the authority Carlin jokes about.

Personal responsibility and personal accountability are attached to personal authority. The Bible defines this as dominio propio ( a little Spanish lingo), self-control. If we lack self-control, we are then powerless.

Is it not time for each and every one of us to call on the Living God for wisdom? Shall we choose instead to be willingly ignorant of God’s amazing gifts that await our discovery?

“But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light [of God’s precepts], for it is light that makes everything visible. For this reason He says,

And Christ will shine [as dawn] upon you and give you light.””

Authority Under Fire – Rebels In The Camp

On the evening of July 7, 2016, four Dallas police officers and one DART transit officer were murdered in cold blood by two snipers  shooting from an elevated parking garage. According to WFAA News, “Eleven officers in all were shot by gunmen in what police believe to be a coordinated ambush attack that began at 8:58 p.m., at the close of a rally in solidarity with two men killed in officer-involved shootings, one in Louisiana, one in Minnesota.”

What’s going on with our fellow citizens? Cops killing citizens. Citizens attacking and killing cops.

Some attribute the violence to anger, others to black men who grew up fatherless. Some say police officers fail to secure the rights of citizens. Still, others attribute nationwide lawlessness at the feet of a Democrat president who himself refuses to follow the rule of law. Which is correct? Perhaps all.

What I see is a rebellion against authority, and this begs the question, “What is the meaning of the word authority?”.

Dictionary definitions include:

  • the right, power, or ability to control, command, or decide
  • power to influence or command thought, opinion, or behavior
  • an accepted source of information, advice, etc.

So, who decides who is and who is not a governmental authority? There is only one source of authority: God. Romans 13:1 says, “Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God.”

Romans 13:4 explains the role of law enforcement officers, judges and prosecutors: “The authorities are God’s servants, sent for your good. But if you are doing wrong, of course, you should be afraid, for they have the power to punish you. They are God’s servants, sent for the very purpose of punishing those who do what is wrong.”

To rebel against lawful authority is to rebel against God himself, not a good place to be.

The principle of divine authority applies in all situations; the principle of rebellion, also.

Government officials, including law enforcement officers, administrators, elected officials and even presidents who do not follow the rule of law are rebels.

How are we to deal with a corrupted government? The due process clause of the fourteenth amendment, section 1 states: “nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.” Therefore, the agents of the government who deny due process of law rebel against God’s authority as do those persons who break the law.

A despotic president occupies the White House. Our U.S. Attorney General refuses to prosecute “wickedness in high places” and the director of the FBI shamelessly says privileged individuals who have indisputably committed high crimes did not do so intentionally.

As Mark Levin says of despotism, “It gets worse; it doesn’t get better.”

What’s the cure? The cure cannot be found in a political party. There is only one possible cure: national repentance, from top to bottom. Let’s seek God with all our hearts. Pray for those who have the rule over you so you can lead quiet and peaceful lives. When peace comes, give no man credit, but acknowledge the Author of Life, our top authority, the Living God for being merciful to us.
