One year ago, India’s Parliament under the authority of the Foreign Contributions Regulation Act (FCRA) the government shutdown 69 NGOs, most serving the poor and the poorest of the poor. This action affected Muslim and Christian activities. Muslim NGOs chiefly provide Islamic indoctrination while Christian ministries empower the poor through education, feeding programs, and medical relief.
On January of 2017, India added restrictions on how NGOs receive funding.
“…Navsarjan, an organization whose various humanitarian services for the Dalit community include running schools for their children, is one such NGO. The Dalits are the best known exploited community in Indian society due to their placement on the “lowest rung” of Hinduism’s ancient caste system. Their children often “face discrimination and violence from higher-caste children and teachers in regular schools.” However, Navsarjan’s work in ensuring these children a safe education has been deemed “detrimental to national interest.” – Non-Profit Quarterly, January 30, 2017
If you know some history of India, you can appreciate how Islamic centers threaten Hindu culture. However, from Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity to Christ for India, Christian ministries have a history of relieving poverty thr0ugh medical care, feeding programs, and the education of Indian children, particularly the Dalit children.
For local interest: Christ for India was birthed out of Church on the Rock in Rockwall, Texas.
So, in the mind of the Hindus, doing good to the Dalit children is a national threat.
It was the influence of a Christian nation, Great Britain, that paved the way for India to become the prosperous nation it has become. Hindu nationalism will turn back the clock on the work of Christian missionaries and doom the poorest of the poor to indescribable misery and early death.
Pray for the souls of India, that God will miraculously keep open a window of mercy so that Christian missions like Christ for India can continue.
