Houston Chronicle: For years, the Houston area has been losing ground

Houston is sinking – and has been for decades… this inconvenient fact [of land subsidence] contributes to the region’s misery.

Why is the Houston area sinking? Read USGS publication titled: Water-Level Altitudes 2013 and Water-Level Changes in the Chicot, Evangeline, and Jasper Aquifers and Compaction 1973–2012 in the Chicot and Evangeline Aquifers, Houston-Galveston Region, Texas

As someone who was born and raised within four blocks of the Gulf of Mexico, I can attest to the fact the sea level is NOT rising. Every year or two I get back to my hometown of Palacios, TX to walk the seawall where I see the same tidal markings I saw as a kid.

My home was merely 13 feet above mean sea level (MSL) back in the 40s when I was born and now in 2017 it is still merely 13 feet above MSL. Yes, there is an apparent rise of MSL in Palacios due to land subsidence, but nowhere near the severity of the Houston area and it’s death by centimeters, not feet.

Subsidence is a global problem and, in the United States, more than 17,000 square miles in 45 States, an area roughly the size of New Hampshire and Vermont combined, have been directly affected by subsidence.

The rising tides of misinformation and leftist propaganda imperil our hard-won freedoms. True science trumps fake news every time.
