Washington Examiner headline: Cornyn, Feinstein in talks to find gun control compromise – 15 June 2016
Due to ratification of the Seventeenth Amendment, U.S. senators are no longer accountable to the people of the respective states through the agency of the state legislatures.
Senators like Cornyn spend more time fund-raising than serving the interests of their constituents.
The news story linked above was published on 15 June 2016. Feinstein and Cornyn stated their goal then was to develop “gun control legislation that would make it harder for people on the federal terror watch list to purchase firearms or explosives”.
It’s 2017 and it’s Liberal/RINO déjà vu all over again.
The Seventeenth Amendment eviscerates the republican form of government our Founding Fathers specified in Article IV, Section 4 of our U.S. Constitution.
Our only defense is a Convention of States to repeal the Seventeenth Amendment, a process provided to us in Article V of the Constitution. No, this is not a constitutional convention to re-write the Constitution, is the ‘safety valve’ mechanism our Founding Fathers provided us for the purpose of proposing constitutional amendments.
