Dear Fox News, Stick to reporting. We can decide.

Bloomberg headline, October 19 2019 | Trump Has a New Punching Bag at Fox News

The Bloomberg headline was linked to the Drudge Report as, “Chris Wallace New Face of Resistance“.

Chris Wallace: “The reason I’m a registered Democrat is that in Washington, D.C., there is really only one party. If you want a say in who’s going to be the next mayor or councilman, you have to vote in the Democratic primary.

The Washington Post, October 11, 2006 | Chris Wallace, Card-Carrying Democrat?

Wallace’s own words suggest he is driven by a desire for power and not driven by principle. I don’t agree with Bloomberg. Chris Wallace isn’t the President’s punching bag at Fox News; Chris Wallace is the lead man in the yellow journalism department at Fox News.

The publicized role of Chris Wallace and other ‘talking heads’ is to interview governmental and societal leaders. The noun interview means ” a conversation or meeting in which a writer, reporter, or television host seeks information from one or more persons for a news story, broadcast, etc.

Fox News claims its business plan, with respect to news stories, is (or was) “We report. You decide.” Chris Wallace’s apparent role is , “I accuse. You defend yourself.”

The Bloomberg article states, “Smith’s departure also makes Wallace more important than ever to the network, which relies on the credibility of its news division to counter criticism about its Trump-friendly prime-time hosts.”

I suggest to Fox News a return to “We report. You decide.” Fox has done very well in the past following this slogan. A slogan that better describes the Chris Wallace/Shep Smith style is, “We decide what you are to think.”

Yellow journalism is nothing new. CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, and NBC excel at the craft. We, the thinking American public, are looking to Fox for sensational facts, not sensationalism.

I avoid Chris Wallace programming as I also avoided Shep Smith’s programming. Otherwise, Fox News, at least for now, is my preferred broadcast news source. America needs at least one network news company that will follow the facts, unlike the fake-news media that now lead the Democratic Party.

Here in Texas, we have a news company that actually follows the facts: The TEXAN.
