The Bright Side of LGBTQ Activism

In my seventh decade of life, I remember how homosexuals were not called homosexuals in the 1960s. Sodomite was one term, a truly derogatory word. Queer was the common noun, also a derogatory word.

Regardless of the chosen noun, homosexual men weren’t predisposed to see themselves as anything but men, likewise homosexual women, affirming that gender is genetic and binary. Along to the way to today, the genetic predisposition became elective.

Ben Shapiro was scheduled to speak on Stanford University’s campus on Thursday evening, November 7, 2019, in a Young America’s Foundation’s Fred Allen Lecture Series event hosted by the Stanford College Republicans.

Student LGBTQ-Whatever activists protested, using their First Amendment right to free speech to oppose Ben Shapiro’s First Amendment right to free speech.

“We are tired of of Stanford Administration’s complicity in putting Black, Brown, Trans, Queer, and Muslim students at risk by allowing SCR to bring Ben Shapiro to campus. We do not protest because we are too sensitive to hear opinions we don’t like. We protest because we are strong enough to defend ourselves.”

In the protest statement, the Stanford activists use the noun queer, curiously capitalized.

The LGBTQ+Whatever activists become angry when ordinary people call them queers but they hypocritically self-identify as queers. I point to the use of the word in the statement from the Stanford students and the LGBTQ+Whatever activist organization Queer Nation.

Not all homosexuals virulently attack Christians and political conservatives like Ben Shapiro; the Log Cabin Republicans, for example, whose majority generally aligns with the Texas State GOP Platform.

I see curious parallels between LGBTQ+Whatever activism and communism.

  • The penchant for silencing critics and anyone they oppose
  • Strident condemnation of Bible-believing, practicing Christians
  • Demands for superior rights over the rights of ordinary citizens.

The one noun that addresses the above is idolatry, the worship of something other than God, a violation of the first of the Ten Commandments.

Adolph Hitler initially employed homosexual activists who served as his Storm Troopers, the Sturmabteilung. A homosexual was the lead Storm Trooper.

As now, the homosexual activists worked alongside the socialists to silence Christians and to persecute Jews. But, one day the seemingly symbiotic relationship radically changed when Hitler ordered the deaths of homosexuals, a multi-day period known as the “Night of the Long Knives”.

History repeats itself. The time will come when the atheistic socialists will turn on the homosexuals who are, for now, tools of the socialists.

Is there hope for LGBTQ activists? In a word, yes.

What do Aaron Girod, Joseph Thiessen, Andrew Franklin, Annette Morales, Jim Farrington, Stephen found, Laura Leigh Stanlake, Stephen Black, Andrew Franklin, Beth Babb, and thousands of other Americans have in common? They are all former homosexuals who have turned to faith in Jesus Christ. Here the personal stories of these people and the stories of many others from First Stone Ministries.

Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.

So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now!  This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

2 Corinthians 5:14-17 NLT

A NEW PERSON. Think of the implications! Think of the meaning of new:
of recent creation, fresh or unused, fresh or unused.

Using the analogy of the car-buying experience, new does not mean like new, refurbished, or improved. It means you are a new creature as though the past life never happened.

Is there hope for homosexuals? Absolutely! God is love.

Soli Deo Gloria
