The U.S. Social Compact: 233 Years Unchangeable

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

What do the above words mean?

A more perfect union
perfect defined: agreeing with or fitting the description or definition of an ideal kind or type
union defined: a number of persons, states, etc., joined or associated together for some common purpose
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For brothers to dwell together in unity!
Psalm 133:1

establish justice
establish defined: to bring into being on a firm or permanent basis;
set up
justice defined: the maintenance or administration of what is just by law, as by judicial or other proceedings; the administration of law according to prescribed and accepted principles
He has told you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
Except to be just, and to love [and to diligently practice] kindness (compassion),
And to walk humbly with your God [setting aside any overblown sense of importance or self-righteousness]?
Micah 6:8

[insure =] ensure domestic Tranquility
ensure defined: to guarantee; make sure
domestic defined: of or relating to one’s own country as apart from other countries
tranquility defined: the state of being free from commotion; quiet; calm:

provide for the common defense
provide defined: to supply or equip
common defined: relating to or belonging to an entire community, nation, or culture
“Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will put ten thousand to flight; your enemies will fall before you by the sword” Leviticus 26:8

promote the general Welfare
promote defined: to contribute to the growth or prosperity of
general defined: involving, applicable to, or affecting the whole
welfare defined: health, happiness, prosperity, and well-being in general
“Seek peace and well-being for the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf; for in its peace (well-being) you will have peace.” Jeremiah 29:7 (context, verses 1-7)

secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity
secure defined: to make certain of
blessings defined: a favor or gift (as bestowed by God), thereby bringing happiness
liberty defined: freedom from government or control that is oppressive and that denies rights
posterity defined: future generations; one’s descendants”
“Only be careful that this liberty of yours [this power to choose] does not somehow become a stumbling block [that is, a temptation to sin] to the weak [in conscience]” 1 Corinthians 8:9
