Bill Donahue, president of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, called House Bill 5, otherwise known as The Equality Bill, “the most comprehensive assault on Christianity ever written into law.”
The Equality Act expressly exempts itself from the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), our flagship religious liberty law.
The Equality Act’s expansion of public accommodations could require churches and houses of worship to violate their beliefs regarding how they use their facilities. Its changes to employment law would prohibit some houses of worship from ensuring their clergy and employees abide by their doctrines or beliefs about marriage, sexual behavior, and the distinction between the sexes.

Text of my own message to our Senators:
“I urge you to OPPOSE HB5 and to persuade other senators, including Democrats, to also oppose HB5.First of all, HB5 is unconstitutional.Second, HB5 is not really about “equality.” It is all about SOGI, sexual orientation/gender identity. If signed into law, HB5 will effectively nullify most of the Bill of Rights and turn the federal government into an instrument of persecution for all things Christian and all persons who are Christians. The Democrats are pushing America toward self-destruction and will surely arouse civil strife throughout the country, coast to coast, border to border.”
Text of my message to AG Ken Paxton:
“AG Paxton, I ask you to exert whatever influence you have with Attorneys General in other states to warn fellow citizens of the heinous nature of HB5 “the equality act”.
If passed, this bill will arouse civil unrest and unleash the persecution of Christians and pro-life advocates. HB5 effectively guts the Bill of Rights.”
