The Ugly Truth About College Education Worldview

Read “Why I Quit Teaching” by Professor David Solway

I quote Professor Solway:

“The problem is chiefly in the humanities and social sciences – English literature, cultural studies, gender programs, sociology, communications – where it must be frankly admitted that very few of the students enrolled have the intellectual No Safe Spaces in Real World by Dana Summersequipment to meet traditional standards of achievement and performance. These faculties have become a holding pen for incompetents, now known as “snowflakes.” For a variety of reasons – defective early schooling, poor parenting, widespread permissiveness – these students are in desperate need of “safe spaces,” where they can hide from the real world and shirk the demands of mental maturity. They are taught not to think independently, evaluate competing doctrines, or master the tools of cognitive proficiency, but to feel good about themselves. Self-esteem subs for self-improvement. Moreover, they are materia prima for anti-Western indoctrination by their politicized professors, mentors, and departments.”

“No matter how far you have gone on the wrong road, you can still turn around.” – Anonymous

There truly are colleges and universities that stand on traditional American values. Oklahoma Wesleyan University, headed by Dr. Everett Piper, is one I can highly recommend.

McCarthy was right – He just went about proving the case of communists in government the wrong way

The NSA has declassified a trove of documents that reveal KGB communications with hundreds of communists working within our federal government.

One example: TOP SECRET Report No. 1657, dated 27 November 1944 | Link to NSA archive: 27nov_mrs_rosenberg

In this document, code name LIBERAL is Julius Rosenberg. The document calls out his wife Ethel Rosenberg by her real name.

You can review all the declassified, decoded VENONA messages from the NSA website at

On June 19, 1953, Ethel and Julius Rosenberg were executed by electric chair in Sing Sing Prison in Ossining, New York.

At trial, the Rosenbergs declared their innocence. Naturally, the Rosenberg sons Michael and Robert, six and ten years of age when their parents were executed, wanted very much to clear their parents of wrongdoing, but upon release of the VENONA papers in the 1990s they came to realize and acknowledge their parents were, in fact, Soviet spies. Learn more about Julius Rosenberg from his biography.

Senator Joseph McCarthy (R-WI) was correct on the fact of communist spies in U.S. government, but his theatrics and his desire for fame backfired. The truth about communist infiltration essentially legitimized communism in the U.S.A.

Are there communists in our government today? There were well-known communists serving in the administration of Barack Obama.

Van Jones became a communist while involved with San Francisco radicals. He came to know communists while in jail where he and they were incarcerated. In his own words, “I met all these young radical people of color — I mean really radical, communists and anarchists. And it was, like, ‘This is what I need to be a part of… I spent the next ten years of my life working with a lot of those people I met in jail, trying to be a revolutionary…I was a rowdy nationalist on April 28th, and then the verdicts came down on April 29th. By August, I was a communist.” [Reference: East Bay Express – The New Face of Environmentalism 11/2/2005]

Former President Barack Obama told a group of young people in Argentina not to worry about the differences between capitalism and communism and “just choose from what works.” [The Washington Times, March 25, 2016]

Why would Obama sanction communism? Consider his parentage, his upbringing, his mentors and his associations. His parents were communists, his grandparents were communists, his mentors were communists, and his liberal education inspired communism.

As you will learn from the above video, Obama lauded Fidel Castro and Cuban communism.

Investors Business Daily referred to communists in the Obama administration as “Red-diaper babies”. IBD describes Jeh Johnson in an article titled Add Homeland Security’s Jeh Johnson To List Of Obama Red Diaper Babies. In this article,  IBD calls out “top White House advisor Valerie Jarrett, former political advisor David Axelrod and President Obama himself”.

Is communism truly alive in America today? I would say even more than during WW2 and the Cold War.

Learn from the Communist Party USA website how the communist movement is large and lively and at the heart of the Anti-Trump activities.

Communist Party Goal: Rebuilding the Communist Party in the fight against Trump, 26 November 2017

University of Hawaii: HOW MANY DID COMMUNIST REGIMES MURDER? “…the Soviet Union appears the greatest ‘megamurderer’ of all, apparently killing near 61,000,000 people. Stalin himself is responsible for almost 43,000,000 of these.” To these, we can add Cambodia’s Pol Pot, Cubas Fidel Castro, and China’s Mao.

Does communism pose a threat to American freedoms? Have you not heard about so-called ‘free speech zones’ on college campuses? An article in The Federalist, dated 23 August 2017 reports How American Anarchy Parallels China’s Cultural Revolution.

Tell-tale features of the communist movement in America include:

  • free-speech zones on college campuses
  • social justice activists (NFL anthem protesters, Black Lives Matter,
  • political correctness (aka fascism)
  • assaults on First Amendment freedoms
  • sanctuary cities that defy the Supreme Law of the Land
  • a growing atheist movement
  • anarchy

What’s the cure? No political action, no act of Congress, no executive order can stop the march of communism. Only divine, miraculous revelations of Jesus Christ to the youth of America can change the course.

Communism is the systematic plan of Satan to wipe out all vestiges of Judeo-Christian faith in the Living God as our source of peace and our divine provision.

In this year, the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, expect a global revival to sweep billions into the Kingdom of God. Let’s be aware global atheism, anarchy, wars, and rumors of war will greatly increase before the full manifestation of the revival.

Meanwhile, follow the direction of the Apostle Paul in 1 Timothy 2:2. “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.

si el socialism fuera tan bueno
Translation of statements on graphic:

If socialism were as good as they say,
Berlin wouldn’t have made a wall,
The people wouldn’t have escaped from Cuba on rafts,
And in Venezuela, they wouldn’t be standing in lines for food.
(The little red logo says “No to leftist fanaticism“)

Read a Washington Times article dated 11/4/17 titled: Millennials would rather live in socialist or communist nation than under capitalism: Poll ‘This troubling turn highlights widespread historical illiteracy in American society’

Our three-year-old granddaughter wanted so very much to touch her grandmother’s coffee cup heater. Grandmother repeatedly warned her against touching it, but one day she elected to ignore the warning and laid her hand atop the hot surface. She no longer wishes to touch the cup heater.

Is there a crisis in public and university training in America? Yes, there is a genuine crisis due to historical revisionism.

I experienced my first up-close-and-personal with this crisis in a weekend conversation with my eldest son, then a student at Sul Ross University. We discussed Cuba, a subject dear to my heart. His closing statement to signal his belief he won the debate was: “Well, Dad, you know Castro is the best thing that ever happened to Cuba.” I responded, asking him, “Have you ever talked to any Cubans about this?” He dismissed me, saying I have ignorant opinions.

My eldest son is a product of leftist education from a public university. Over the years, his worldview changed somewhat.

In 1959, Cubans were not hungering for socialism. They just wanted to be rid of the corrupt Batista tyrannical government. Castro promised change. He just didn’t reveal what the change would be and a socialist-communist regime was firmly set in place.
At one point in time, Fidel Castro boasted, “Cuba has the cleanest and most educated prostitutes in the world.” Who are these well-educated prostitutes? They are doctors, nurses, and teachers who supplement their meager socialist income by prostituting themselves to sex tourists. LA Times

The poor Venezuelans, on the other hand, welcomed socialism that promised cheap food, ‘affordable’ housing, and free medical care. Hugo Chavez actually placed Cuban administrators into every level of the Venezuelan government and Cuban medical personnel provided the free medical care. For a time, Chavez even flew Mexican patients to Venezuela for free eye care with the end of fomenting a communist takeover of Mexico.

Where is Venezuelan socialism today? Educated Venezuelans, including mothers desperate to feed their children, teachers, and doctors, willingly prostitute themselves. [Miami Herald ]

Millenials are the largest voting bloc in our country.

During Jesus’ three-year ministry on earth, some believed in him, others did not. How could there be any unbelief after all the amazing miracles witnessed by thousands of Jews? I have no qualified answer to this question, but I know a sure-fire experience that removes all doubt. The Apostle Peter and I shared this experience.

Matthew 16:13-17 describes this experience.

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.
But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.
Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock [of revelation] I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

In August of 1974, I experienced this rock of revelation. Nothing and no one can shake me of my belief in the Lord Jesus Christ.

My point: Speaking to like-minded American adults, there is nothing you can say to dissuade most Millenials from their hunger for socialism. But, a divine revelation of truth will ring them all around.

Rabbi Jesus is the way and the truth and the life.

My prayer to God is a request for revelations of truth to the Millenial generation. I see no plan ‘B’.If we wait for them to learn the reality of socialism first-hand, as did Cubans and now Venezuelans, it will be too late to save our beloved country.

WSJ: A Closer Look at CLA+ Test Results

Graduates not ready for employment: “A survey by PayScale Inc., an online pay and benefits researcher, showed 50% of employers complain that college graduates they hire aren’t ready for the workplace. Their No. 1 complaint? Poor critical-reasoning skills.”

Ill-equipped for problem-solving: “International rankings show U.S. college graduates are in the middle of the pack when it comes to numeracy and literacy and near the bottom when it comes to problem-solving.”

Small vs. Large Colleges: “Some of the biggest gains occur at smaller colleges where students are less accomplished at arrival but soak up a rigorous, interdisciplinary curriculum.”

How does the college where your freshman son or daughter plan to study compare?

Small colleges and home schools are made for each other.

classical conversations.png What is Classical Conversations homeschool education? A Forbes article dated 25 April 2017 says, “The first disruptor is Classical Conversations. This home-school curriculum charges less than $1,500 a year for high school. Classical Conversations was founded by Leigh Bortins in 1997 with 11 students and the aim of restoring Western civilization, memorization, recitation and strong science and math to lesson plans. You won’t hear this too often on National Public Radio, but Classical Conversation’s curriculum now has more than 100,000 “seats,” i.e., registered students, and an academic performance most public schools only dream of. The curriculum is Christian but can be adapted to serve those seeking secular classical education.”

High school seniors, are you expecting one of those high-paying high-tech jobs to come your way?

17 November 2015 AD/5 Kislev 5776graduation_cap_and_diploma

High school seniors, are you expecting one of those high-paying high-tech jobs to come your way? It may happen and you may win the lottery, too.

Do you know that only about 25% of college graduates actually go to work in the field for which they are educated? Yes, the title of “engineer” is captivating. Yet, among the top 50 careers in America today and for the foreseeable future, openings for engineers are very limited.

The career field in highest demand of your skills is the medical field. Anything medical. If unskilled, there are innumerable opportunities to flip hamburgers or serve up lattes.

Back in my days in the aerospace business, it was boom and bust. Careers were cut short when federal funding of various programs ended. For examples, the position of astronaut captivates the imagination; many want to be, but few are chosen.

Among my colleagues who worked for Autonetics, Lockheed, General Dynamics, E-Systems, Grumman, United Technologies (back then strictly aerospace, not air conditioners), Texas Instruments, Honeywell aviation products and others, many eagerly took jobs pumping gasoline or working as security guards when orders for our stuff abruptly stopped.

I also worked in the oil patch, first as a roughneck on offshore rigs in the days of my youth, later on an engineering team that built the world’s first robotic drilling rig. As with aerospace jobs, oilfield jobs pay very well, but are subject to the same vagaries of economic downturns as any other career field.

Be encouraged. There are excellent career fields out there in the workaday world, but only those in demand will be working.

Do your research now. Don’t be misled by high school counselors who may push you toward a field of study that may leave you unfulfilled. Check out the Bureau of Labor Statistics, career builder websites, talk to people actually working in a given line of work – most important of all, be sensitive to the Grace of God.

An old word in use as I grew up was “vocation”. It would be said of someone in a particular line of work or professional services that he or she was a vocational doctor, teacher, welder, etc.

“Vocation” comes from Latin vocare, “to be called”. Your vocation is your calling, it’s the type of work in which you will be both happy and successful. No one knows you better than your Creator.

Grace, as used in the New Testament, means “gift”. What’s inside the gift? Open it and you’ll discover God-given desire GraceEmpowersUsand the power to fulfill that desire.

Want some good news? I have some. Let’s do it “by the numbers”.

6 November 2015 AD

During the Great Depression, unemployment peaked at 24.9% which translates to labor participation rate of 75.1%

unemployment great depression

Now in November 2015, the labor participation rate is 62.4%, translating to an unemployment rate of 37.6%.

Yes, you read correctly. Unemployment now is much more severe than it was during the peak of the Great Depression.

Let’s now look at housing and home ownership. It’s at least as good as it was back in 1995.

home ownership rate

How is all this good news? Well, it’s good news for people like me, in that I am gainfully employed (self-employed, actually) and my home is mortgage-free.

Sadly, it’s not good news for tens of millions of Americans who are out of work and unable to buy a home.

Read Gallup Poll, “The Big Lie: 5.6% Unemployment”

Read EE Times, “Fewer engineers unemployed, but total number of jobs shrinks”

Read WSJ, “Who Will Hire a Petroleum Engineer Now?”

So, what jobs are open? Nurses (#1) and truck drivers (#2) can go to work any day they wish.

The top ten most in-demand jobs are following:

  1. Registered nurses
  2. Truck drivers
  3. Customer service representatives
  4. Sales managers
  5. Sales representatives
  6. First-line supervisors or managers of retail sales workers
  7. Software quality assurance engineers and testers
  8. General and operations managers
  9. Managers (all other)
  10. Accountants and auditors

In summary, if you have an engineering degree, there are ample opportunities for you in the trucking industry. Copy, good buddy?

Do you notice a conspicuous absence from the above list “computer programmers”?

A friend of many years and a former truck driver says “turnover” drives the demand for fresh truck drivers. It’s the number two job opening, but it’s not a cakewalk job. Truck drivers have to deal with schedules, demanding bosses, innumerable laws and regulations and long lonely hours on the road away from home.

Good luck with your STEM education. Good luck with Obama’s job-killing environmental regulations that strangle entrepreneurship.

RISD Bond Election – Building a School to Train Students for Careers They Will Not Pursue

18 August 2015

Blue Ribbon News reports on August 18: $256,820,000 Bond Package Developed By 60-Member Citizens Committee After Five Months Of Extensive Study & Analysis

““The Rockwall ISD bond package is designed to impact every student with new and renovated schools, basic maintenance and capital upgrades, technology and security updates, new buses and sports fields, and a College and Career Academy,” said Jeff Bailey, Rockwall ISD Superintendent.

The College & Career Academy will be a part of the STEM program for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. The College & Career Academy will maintain between 800 to 1,000 students throughout the day providing both high schools with space for additional enrollment capacity on their existing campuses. The Academy will also be used by Texas A&M Commerce and Collin College for college course work for students and adults.”

STEM sounds grand. Does it not? Let’s look back one year to an article in the Washington Post titled Most with college STEM degrees go to work in other fields, survey finds

On March 23 of this year, President Obama announced his plan to spend $240,000,000 on STEM education. FACT SHEET: President Obama Announces Over $240 Million in New STEM Commitments at the 2015 White House Science Fair

Thomas Jefferson - public debt is the greatest of the dangers

Yes, we have gone all out to “inspire and prepare more girls and boys – especially those from underrepresented groups – to excel in STEM fields.” Based on what we know, we are preparing students to not be prepared to function in their actual career choices.

Ask yourself. Is this a good time for Rockwall ISD voters to add a quarter-billion dollars in debt on our backs?
