New Day, New Civil War, Same Evil

Fitting the words of President Abraham Lincoln to our present situation: “Now we are engaged in a [new] great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field of that war [Election Year 2016].”

We are a nation under siege. People are asking, “Will there be martial law? Will we have elections this fall? What’s behind all this rebellion and the senseless murder of policemen?”

The Handbook that came with our nation, the Holy Bible provides insight.

The Root of the Problem

“The foundations of law and order have collapsed. What can the righteous do??” – Psalms 11:3

The Fruit of the Problem

“And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.

Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. Their lives became full of every kind of

wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip.” – Romans 1:27-29

Action We the People Can Take Now

“Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.” – 1 Timothy 2:2 (Note the verb ‘pray’ is an imperative, not a suggestion, not a good idea, not a request; it’s a command.)

What We Can Expect from God

“…When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.” – Isaiah 59:19

May God have mercy on the people of the United States of America.
