The most valuable swamp land in all America

Founding Father Thomas Jefferson foretold our present-day situation.

Where is the greatest concentration of wealth? Hint: It’s not in any of the fifty states or any of the commonwealths.

Last year, the District of Columbia paid Uncle Sam $37,000 per person in federal income, payroll and estate taxes. The next closest was Delaware, at $16,000 per person.

“It’s where the money is,” said Roberton Williams, a fellow at the Tax Policy Center. “The reason the District pays so much in taxes is that there are a lot of high-income people there.”AP Top News 16 April 2017

Since the foundation of our Republic, the consolidation of power in Washington, District of Columbia has grown unabated. As Jefferson warned, the consequences remain apace the corruption.

Recent news stories feature Maxine Water’s incessant rants against President Trump. Other news stories reveal her corrupt practices over her many years in office.

Maxine Waters corruption - pays hundreds of thousands of dollars to daughter
Maxine Waters was first elected to Congress in 1990

Holy scripture warns, “For all that is secret will eventually be brought into the open, and everything that is concealed will be brought to light and made known to all.

Foggy Bottom corruption isn’t endemic to a political party. Corrupted governments have been around since the dawn of mankind dating back to the temptation of Adam and Eve by Satan.

We aren’t sinners because we sin; we sin because we are sinners.

When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned…Adam is a symbol, a representation of Christ, who was yet to come…For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many…Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person [Jesus Christ] obeyed God, many will be made righteous.Romans 5:12-19 NLT

By what means do we stamp out corruption in government? Try as we may, there is nothing we citizens can do to eliminate corruption – sin – from the centers of power.

Long before Thomas Jefferson voiced his warning, a plan was set in place to make us whole. There is this one verse in the Bible that addresses the big ‘why’ Jesus Christ came to dwell among men, to die and resurrect himself from the grave. This verse is found in 1 John 3:8.

He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose, the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

That word destroy means to loosen, break up, dissolve, melt, put off, to deprive of authority. When linking 1 John 3:8 with 2 Corinthians 5:17 we can understand we are all born as sinners – you, me and Maxine Waters alike.

What am I saying? While car buying the appearance and odors of a used car cannot reveal its old nature. But, a new car has that unmistakeable odor and appearance of a vehicle never before owned by anyone.

This is the work of Jesus Christ in our lives. He destroys, he loosens and undoes all the work of Satan in our lives. We become new creations as though sin never happened.

God the Father did not send his son just to get us off the hook. His purpose is to bring the Kingdom of God to earth.

Jesus works today in the lives of politicians, government employees, you, and me to restore us to God’s original design for his family.

Yes, Jesus died for our sins. He defeated death through his ordeal and by resurrecting himself from the dead to return to Heaven where God continues his work of restoration of all mankind through the agency of the Holy Spirit.

Today, April 16, 2017, is Resurrection Day celebrated to commemorate the Passover.

All authority comes from God who is exposing the corruption of authority throughout the world today. It is God who uses the agency of elected officials to “drain the swamp”.

May God drain the swamp and bless America as he reveals his Son to all mankind.

Family Dog Saves 3-year-old Girl’s life

Out in rural Cordes Lakes, Arizona, 3-year-old Victoria thought to look for the family dog Blue, a Queensland Heeler. Blue has been her constant companion since her birth.

Victoria became lost in the frigid cold for fifteen hours before she was found in a frozen ravine, the dog covering her. Blue kept her alive and well, except for a little frostbite.

What’s in a name? Genesis 2:19 NLT says, “So the Lord God formed from the ground all the wild animals and all the birds of the sky. He brought them to the man [Adam] to see what he would call them, and the man chose a name for each one.”

In English, ‘dog’ just means ‘dog’. That’s about it. Hebrew is different. The Hebrew word for ‘dog’ is ‘kelev’, a compound word meaning “like a heart”. Blue’s heart was for Victoria.

Blue stayed close to Victoria, closer than any human friend. This is a real-life example why we call dogs “man’s best friend”. You probably have your own favorite dog story.

Proverbs 18:24 says, “There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.” You have a friend more loyal, more helpful, than any dog, a friend who would lay down his life for you. In fact, that friend did indeed lay down his life for you nearly two thousand years ago. Jesus Christ is this friend.

Blue understood Victoria’s need for companionship and a covering to protect her. Psalm 46:1 reassures us, “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.” Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. He was born of a virgin, raised in a family with younger brothers and sisters. Jesus knows what it’s like to be human. Scripture says, “He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds, you are healed.”

The traditional Christmas story of baby Jesus in a manger, helpless, incapable of surviving without his mom, highlights only the beginning of his 33-year lifetime on earth.

Jesus isn’t a helpless little nursing infant. Neither is he still hanging on a cross. Jesus is alive, having defeated death and the grave. He’s seated at the right hand of God the Father and he sent us his Holy Spirit to guide us and to warn us and to empower us.

Perhaps Christmas 2016 will mark a turning point in your life, as it was for me in 1974.

Preachers preach about him. Friends may talk about him. Has someone given you Christian literature or told you that you need Jesus in your heart? I know how to do all these things, but there is one thing that will make Jesus Christ more real to you, more relevant than any human persuasion.

It is my prayer for all who read this that Jesus Christ will reveal himself to you in dreams or visions or audibly. As Jesus remarked to the Apostle Peter in Matthew 16:18, he builds his church, his called out ones, upon this rock of revelation.

Persuasive words can change the mind of a logical man, but no one can change the mind of a man who has experienced a personal, divine revelation.

Is ISIS Something to be feared? No. And, here’s the reason why.

Is ISIS something to be feared? I say, no. Neither do I fear either cobras or rattlesnakes. Like poisonous snakes, ISIS fighters are not persons to fear, but persons against whom you should protect yourself.

Read the full story. Play the video to hear this thug cry like a baby as Kurdish warriors haul him away. Link:

In the Old Testament book of Isaiah, we read about the end of Satan’s reign of destruction.

“How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground—mighty though you were against the nations of the world…. Everyone there will stare at you and ask, “Can this be the one who shook the earth and the kingdoms of the world? Can this be the one who destroyed the world and made it into a shambles, who demolished its greatest cities and had no mercy on his prisoners?”” [Isaiah 14:12-17 TLB]

What will bring to an end Satan’s multi-thousand-year rampage of deception, death and destruction? Find the answer to this question in 1 John 3:8 NKJV.

“He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose, the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.”

My Spanish version says it better, using the verb “deshacer“, to undo, to untie, to unmake, rather than “destruir“, to destroy, to demolish.

Jesus who raised Lazarus from the dead can raise you up out of your sinful past. Those whom he redeems he also renews by undoing, unmaking, the old man into a new creature. As it is written, “…if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

No doubt you can immediately tell the difference between a used car made to look new and a truly new car never before owned. The differences are unmistakable. Such is the new life in Jesus Christ. Jesus is nearby and ready to answer you, ready and willing to make you into a new creature.

Forgiven in Rockwall

September 22, 2013

At the time of this horrific incident pictured above, I was back from assignment aboard the U.S.S. Constellation off the shores of North Vietnam and working in my company’s home plant in Norwalk, Connecticut. Of all my memories of Vietnam, the story of this nine year old girl is one that remains forever with me.

Of all our wars, the Civil War has the distinction as the war that killed more Americans than all others combined. This war freed most of the slaves, but not all. It was the Thirteenth Amendment that ultimately ended all slavery in the U.S.A.

Tragically, there remain legacies of unforgiveness. Millions of black Americans carry on a legacy of hate toward their ancestors’ white masters and millions of white Americans carry on a legacy of hate toward blacks and northerners. In both cases, black and white, there remain people imprisoned by unforgiveness.

There is yet to come a war beyond our imaginations and it may be upon us as soon as 2016. This will indeed be the war to end all wars. So, it is wise and prudent to get our lives in order by following the example of Kim Phuc.

“For if you forgive others their offenses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you” — Matthew 6:14, Complete Jewish Bible

Is there someone against whom you hold unforgiveness? Forgive them and enjoy the liberty of being forgiven.

Next Great Depression – What’s Your Excuse?

What happens after “Aftershock”? Economist and author Robert Wiedemer predicts tough times ahead in 2013.

– 100% inflation
– 50% unemployment
– 90% stock market crash

How do you prepare for the next ‘great depression’, assuming Mr. Robert Wiedemer correctly reads our future?

I have no answers for you, but I can tell you what I have done. I saved money, got totally out of debt – business and personal – and adjusted my lifestyle to endure tough times, all the while expecting to actually grow my business next year. Oxymoronic, you think?

Let’s look at history for answers.

Several great businesses came to life DURING the Great Depression: Motorola, Waukesha-Pierce Industries and 3M, GM, Proctor & Gamble and many others.

Economic collapse ends “business as usual”, opening the way for innovation and creativity.

As I understand, the Chinese symbol for “Crisis” has within it two symbols: ‘danger’ and ‘opportunity’.

If you are just waiting for someone to offer you a job, you may very well find yourself homeless and destitute. Get off your ‘blessed assurance’ and ask God for wisdom. He says he will give it to anyone who asks it of Him.

If you are a business owner, be ready in an instant to change the way you do business. Look for emerging opportunities. Like the gold in California’s hills, you’ll likely have to move a lot of worthless stuff out of the way to find your gold.

Speaking of gold, let’s revisit a famous European immigrant who came to America in search of riches in the gold mines of California. Instead, Levi Straus said he discovered, “The gold is in the seat of the pants”. Yes – Levi’s pants were created to meet a need for durable clothing for miners.

Controversial Interview Exposes 5 Signs Stocks Will Collapse in 2013

If you think federal government controls personal wealth, you, along with millions of other deceived Americans, will become very poor and very, very hungry. Government can only HINDER your personal success.

Your personal success is up to you.

Personal note to my Latino friends who voted for Barack Obama. You’ll vote very differently in 2016 – if you’re still around.

Obama to the World: “The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam”

Why Did He Say This?

Words from a U.N. speech following the terrorist assault on our embassy in Benghazi
Words from a U.N. speech following the terrorist assault on our embassy in Benghazi

Putting his statement in context, I refer you to a New York Times article titled: Obama’s Speech to the United Nations General Assembly — Text

The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam. But to be credible, those who condemn that slander must also condemn the hate we see in the images of Jesus Christ that are desecrated, or churches that are destroyed, or the Holocaust that is denied.” – Barack Obama

Taking his words out of context is a disservice to the cause of liberty. The issue upon which we should focus isn’t his respect for Islam, but his readiness to use misstatements and untruths to advance his agenda.

The issue of importance was assigning responsibility to the murder of American personnel assigned to the U.S. embassy in Benghazi Lybia. His propaganda team hastily and intentionally assigned responsibility to maker of an amateur video.

My opinion: President Obama isn’t lifting Islam above either Christianity or Judaism. If true, such behavior would clearly mark him Muslim. To me, the travesty of this statement was his placing Islam on a level with Christianity and Judaism.

Islam is a cult founded over 600 years after the birth, death and ressurrection of Jesus Christ who, by the way, was a Jew from birth to death.

The Way, The Truth, The Life

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life

Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me.”  – John 14:6 (Amplified)

There are not many paths to eternal life with the Living God. Muslims and Christians don’t worship the same deity. While there are similarities, and they are quite natural since Muhammad grew up among Jews and Christians on the Arabian Peninsula, those similarities alone don’t make them equal.

Christians outnumber Muslims and Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus Christ at phenomenol rates.

Yes, the cartoon is funny and it will have its day, but it was created wholly out of context with the president’s statement.

Let’s keep the main thing the main thing. The president’s statement was not encroachment on the First Amendment, but a dismissal of all faiths. By equating them, he dismisses them as irrelevant. I go so far as to say his statement implies official endorsement of atheism.

Your comments are welcome and invited.

Starry, Starry Night – Hope for the Hopeless

Ever haunted by a melody, a tune that replays over and over in your head? Even as I write this, an enchanting melody continues to flow through my mind. Sure, a catchy song comes along once in a while and for a season of time I’ll hum it or sing it, much to the annoyance of my beloved wife. (My sing alongs in the theater also annoy her, but that’s a story for another day.)

“Vincent”, an ode to artist Vincent Van Gogh laments his sad passing. Its melody has been in continuous replay in my head for about two weeks – sad, indeed. Vincent died of self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head at the age of 37 years. Depressed over his lack of commercial success and, no doubt, other personal issues, he suffered emotionally and, at one point, was confined to a mental hospital where he painted one of his best-known works.

Click on the picture to hear  “Vincent” (Starry, Starry Night)

Starry Night - Vincent Van Gogh
Starry Night - Vincent Van Gogh

In the ten or so years of his artistic career he sold only one painting, no doubt contributing to his sense of low self worth.

Van Gogh’s paintings today are considered some of the most valuable in the world. In fact, six of his works are listed among the highest prices paid at auction, ranging in values from $138 million to $64 million.

Following prayer and meditation, I think the message that came to me is really a message for someone harboring thoughts of suicide.

When life is so terribly unbearable, when you think you can no longer continue in anguish and you feel you must find a way out, it is at this point you must not abort your life. As some say, when you are this low, you can only go up. And that’s the point: when you are at your lowest, YOU CAN GO UP!

Imagine the unintended consequences of your decision to prematurely end your life. You may be depriving someone of a “masterpiece” they so long for. All life is precious. No life is worthless, at least not to others.

Even when you no longer love yourself, God loves you and he sent his only natural born son to redeem what you would otherwise think a worthless life.
