Founding Father Thomas Jefferson foretold our present-day situation.
Where is the greatest concentration of wealth? Hint: It’s not in any of the fifty states or any of the commonwealths.
Last year, the District of Columbia paid Uncle Sam $37,000 per person in federal income, payroll and estate taxes. The next closest was Delaware, at $16,000 per person.
“It’s where the money is,” said Roberton Williams, a fellow at the Tax Policy Center. “The reason the District pays so much in taxes is that there are a lot of high-income people there.” – AP Top News 16 April 2017
Since the foundation of our Republic, the consolidation of power in Washington, District of Columbia has grown unabated. As Jefferson warned, the consequences remain apace the corruption.
Recent news stories feature Maxine Water’s incessant rants against President Trump. Other news stories reveal her corrupt practices over her many years in office.
Holy scripture warns, “For all that is secret will eventually be brought into the open, and everything that is concealed will be brought to light and made known to all.”
Foggy Bottom corruption isn’t endemic to a political party. Corrupted governments have been around since the dawn of mankind dating back to the temptation of Adam and Eve by Satan.
We aren’t sinners because we sin; we sin because we are sinners.
When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned…Adam is a symbol, a representation of Christ, who was yet to come…For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many…Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person [Jesus Christ] obeyed God, many will be made righteous. – Romans 5:12-19 NLT
By what means do we stamp out corruption in government? Try as we may, there is nothing we citizens can do to eliminate corruption – sin – from the centers of power.
Long before Thomas Jefferson voiced his warning, a plan was set in place to make us whole. There is this one verse in the Bible that addresses the big ‘why’ Jesus Christ came to dwell among men, to die and resurrect himself from the grave. This verse is found in 1 John 3:8.
He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose, the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
That word destroy means to loosen, break up, dissolve, melt, put off, to deprive of authority. When linking 1 John 3:8 with 2 Corinthians 5:17 we can understand we are all born as sinners – you, me and Maxine Waters alike.
What am I saying? While car buying the appearance and odors of a used car cannot reveal its old nature. But, a new car has that unmistakeable odor and appearance of a vehicle never before owned by anyone.
This is the work of Jesus Christ in our lives. He destroys, he loosens and undoes all the work of Satan in our lives. We become new creations as though sin never happened.
God the Father did not send his son just to get us off the hook. His purpose is to bring the Kingdom of God to earth.
Jesus works today in the lives of politicians, government employees, you, and me to restore us to God’s original design for his family.
Yes, Jesus died for our sins. He defeated death through his ordeal and by resurrecting himself from the dead to return to Heaven where God continues his work of restoration of all mankind through the agency of the Holy Spirit.
Today, April 16, 2017, is Resurrection Day celebrated to commemorate the Passover.
All authority comes from God who is exposing the corruption of authority throughout the world today. It is God who uses the agency of elected officials to “drain the swamp”.
May God drain the swamp and bless America as he reveals his Son to all mankind.
Chief Justice Roberts, President Carter, President Clinton, President Bush, President Obama, fellow Americans and people of the world, thank you.
We, the citizens of America, are now joined in a great national effort to rebuild our country and restore its promise for all of our people.
Together, we will determine the course of America and the world for many, many years to come. We will face challenges. We will confront hardships. But we will get the job done.
Every four years we gather on these steps to carry out the orderly and peaceful transfer of power.
And we are grateful to President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama for their gracious aid throughout this transition.
They have been magnificent.
Today’s ceremony, however, has a very special meaning because today we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another or from one party to another, but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C., and giving it back to you, the people.
For too long, a small group in our nation’s capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne the cost. Washington flourished, but the people did not share in its wealth. Politicians prospered but the jobs left and the factories closed.
The establishment protected itself, but not the citizens of our country. Their victories have not been your victories. Their triumphs have not been your triumphs. And while they celebrated in our nation’s capital, there was little to celebrate for struggling families all across our land.
That all changes starting right here and right now because this moment is your moment.
It belongs to you.
It belongs to everyone gathered here today and everyone watching all across America.
This is your day.
This is your celebration.
And this, the United States of America, is your country.
What truly matters is not which party controls our government, but whether our government is controlled by the people.
January 20th, 2017, will be remembered as the day the people became the rulers of this nation again.
The forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten no longer. Everyone is listening to you now. You came by the tens of millions to become part of a historic movement, the likes of which the world has never seen before.
At the center of this movement is a crucial conviction that a nation exists to serve its citizens. Americans want great schools for their children, safe neighborhoods for their families, and good jobs for themselves.
These are just and reasonable demands of righteous people and a righteous public.
But for too many of our citizens, a different reality exists.
Mothers and children trapped in poverty in our inner cities, [and] rusted out factories scattered like tombstones across the landscape of our nation.
An education system flush with cash but which leaves our young and beautiful students deprived of all knowledge.
And the crime and the gangs and the drugs that have stolen too many lives and robbed our country of so much unrealized potential. This American carnage stops right here and stops right now.
We are one nation, and their pain is our pain.
Their dreams are our dreams, and their success will be our success. We share one heart, one home, and one glorious destiny.
The oath of office I take today is an oath of allegiance to all Americans.
For many decades we’ve enriched foreign industry at the expense of American industry, subsidized the armies of other countries while allowing for the very sad depletion of our military.
We’ve defended other nations’ borders while refusing to defend our own. And we’ve spent trillions and trillions of dollars overseas while America’s infrastructure has fallen into disrepair and decay.
We’ve made other countries rich while the wealth, strength, and confidence of our country has dissipated over the horizon.
One by one, the factories shuttered and left our shores with not even a thought about the millions and millions of American workers that were left behind.
The wealth of our middle class has been ripped from their homes and then redistributed all across the world. But that is the past, and now we are looking only to the future.
We assembled here today are issuing a new decree to be heard in every city, in every foreign capital, and in every hall of power. From this day forward, a new vision will govern our land.
From this day forward, it’s going to be only America first, America first. Every decision on trade, on taxes, on immigration, on foreign affairs will be made to benefit American workers and American families. We must protect our borders from the ravages of other countries making our products, stealing our companies, and destroying our jobs.
Protection will lead to great prosperity and strength. I will fight for you with every breath in my body, and I will never ever let you down.
America will start winning again, winning like never before.
We will bring back our jobs.
We will bring back our borders.
We will bring back our wealth, and we will bring back our dreams.
We will build new roads and highways and bridges and airports and tunnels and railways all across our wonderful nation.
We will get our people off of welfare and back to work, rebuilding our country with American hands and American labor.
We will follow two simple rules: buy American and hire American.
We will seek friendship and goodwill with the nations of the world, but we do so with the understanding that it is the right of all nations to put their own interests first.
We do not seek to impose our way of life on anyone, but rather to let it shine as an example.
We will shine for everyone to follow.
We will reinforce old alliances and form new ones and unite the civilized world against radical Islamic terrorism, which we will eradicate completely from the face of the earth.
At the bedrock of our politics will be a total allegiance to the United States of America, and through our loyalty to our country, we will rediscover our loyalty to each other.
When you open your heart to patriotism, there is no room for prejudice.
The Bible tells us how good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity. We must speak our minds openly, debate our disagreements honestly, but always pursue solidarity. When America is united, America is totally unstoppable.
There should be no fear. We are protected and we will always be protected. We will be protected by the great men and women of our military and law enforcement. And most importantly, we will be protected by God.
Finally, we must think big and dream even bigger. In America, we understand that a nation is only living as long as it is striving. We will no longer accept politicians who are all talk, and no action, constantly complaining but never doing anything about it.
The time for empty talk is over. Now arrives the hour of action.
Do not allow anyone to tell you that it cannot be done. No challenge can match the heart and fight and spirit of America. We will not fail. Our country will thrive and prosper again.
We stand at the birth of a new millennium, ready to unlock the mysteries of space, to free the earth from the miseries of disease, and to harness the energies, industries, and technologies of tomorrow.
A new national pride will stir ourselves, lift our sights, and heal our divisions. It’s time to remember that old wisdom our soldiers will never forget, that whether we are black or brown or white, we all bleed the same red blood of patriots.
We all enjoy the same glorious freedoms and we all salute the same great American flag.
And whether a child is born in the urban sprawl of Detroit or the windswept plains of Nebraska, they look up at the same night sky, they fill their heart with the same dreams, and they are infused with the breath of life by the same almighty Creator.
So to all Americans in every city near and far, small and large, from mountain to mountain, from ocean to ocean, hear these words: You will never be ignored again. Your voice, your hopes, and your dreams will define our American destiny. And your courage and goodness and love will forever guide us along the way.
Together we will make America strong again, we will make America wealthy again, we will make America proud again, we will make America safe again.
And, yes, together we will make America great again.
God bless you.
And God bless America.
The highest TV viewership in 36 years of swearing in ceremony – Add internet viewers like me, it was the most watched in all history!
I said while I was in Iran I had [a] spiritual fight with [the] Prince of Persia and [the] Spirit of Jezebel in [the] United States, especially since I got Free. (and there [are] always people who work under these spirits against God’s kingdom).
I believe by electing Donald Trump, as much as the rigged system of DC was broken, the power and controlling of the spirit of Jezebel has been broken in U.S. also. And we will see the spiritual results and fruits of this amazing truth in our beloved country and the world and in our personal life. And because the Curse of the spirit of Jezebel has been broken, we will see the same as we saw the rigged system of DC has been broken that the corruptions of the churches would be broken also.
“As much as we had [that] rigged system in DC we have corruptions in the churches here in [the] United States of America “, ” but as we saw that rigged system of DC has been broken, we will see the corruptions of the churches would be broken also. This amazing process of breaking of corruptions in churches has been started by GOD in my area local church in Boise, but it’s just starting. There is much more … coming to the churches in [the] United States of America. The Good News is baby Jesus came to the manger of the corruption and rigged system of the world and changed it on CHRISTmas.
“The Jezebel curse is broken.” And REVIVAL HAS BEEN STARTED IN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!
Awakening at 3:00 am can do tricks to the brain. This question about the agnostic, dyslexic insomniac came to mind as I suddenly awoke at that hour.
Moral relativism and political correctness hold our fellow Americans hostage to a tyrannical government. The problem is one of authority, or better still the understanding of it.
Do we want a king to rule over us? Yes, it’s built into our DNA so to speak. One day an incorruptible king will rule over the earth with inexhaustible wisdom, infinite wisdom and perfect justice. This incorruptible king? His name is Yeshua Ha-Mashiach to the Jews, Isa to the Muslims, Jesus Christ to the Christians.
Meanwhile, we Americans have a unique system of government in all human history: a democratic republic.
The uneducated, unknowing majority do not know the order of authority God has graced to us. Allow this question: How do you know who the boss is? Is it not the person who can fire you?
Our president is not a king. He is but a hired administrator. As stipulated in the U.S. Constitution, We the People hold authority second only to God himself. Our system of government has three NOT co-equal branches of government. In order of authority, these are the Legislative branch, the Executive Branch and least of all the Judicial branch.
We the People can ‘fire’ legislators who, in turn, can fire presidents and federal judges. Only our elected representatives have been authorized to make law and tax us. The executive has only authority to execute (carry out) the laws. Our founding fathers gave us a judiciary to settle disputes, not to craft law. Therefore, as a bonus, ‘case law’ is not legitimate law.
Our country is in trouble. As Pres. George H.W. Bush once said, “deep doo doo”. If your hope rests in the hands of one or more of the three branches of federal government, then I suggest you spit into one hand and put your hope in the other to see which fills faster.
Comedian George Carlin humorously said, “I have as much authority as the Pope. I just don’t have as many people who believe it.”
Actually, we who have come into personal relationship with the Heavenly Father through the Spirit of Adoption have the authority Carlin jokes about.
Personal responsibility and personal accountability are attached to personal authority. The Bible defines this as dominio propio ( a little Spanish lingo), self-control. If we lack self-control, we are then powerless.
Is it not time for each and every one of us to call on the Living God for wisdom? Shall we choose instead to be willingly ignorant of God’s amazing gifts that await our discovery?
“But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light [of God’s precepts], for it is light that makes everything visible. For this reason He says,
And arise from the dead,
And Christ will shine [as dawn] upon you and give you light.””
Have you ever felt under-appreciated? Oftentimes, the most important people in our lives go unnoticed, quietly following a sense of duty without public recognition. I thought today is the THE day to bring forth a Texan we’ve all seen at one time or another. We know what he did, where he was when he did it and the scene has been featured in innumerable movies and news stories. How is it we don’t know him? Here’s his story from the TSHA.
“On this day [February 23] in 1945, Cpl. Harlon Henry Block of Weslaco appeared in one of the most memorable images to come out of World War II. For three days the men of Company E, Second Battalion, Twenty-eighth Marines, had fought their way to the top of Mount Suribachi, a 550-foot-high extinct volcano at the southern end of the island of Iwo Jima. They first raised a small flag to signal their victory to their fellows below, and a larger flag later. In Associated Press photographer Joe Rosenthal’s picture of the six men raising this second flag, which won the Pulitzer Prize, the twenty-year-old Block was the stooping figure guiding the base of the flagpole into the volcanic ash. He never saw the famous picture, however, as he was killed in action on March 1 as his unit advanced in the direction of Mishi Ridge. Block was buried in the Fifth Marine Division cemetery at the foot of Mount Suribachi, though his body was taken home to Weslaco in 1949.”
Where were you and what were you doing at age 20 years? Harlon Block was laying down his life for you 71 years ago.
We Americans are about to be launched into the most important battle of all American history. It’s the battle for our nation’s soul.
Before young Harlon Block of Weslaco, Texas was sacrificed on Iwo Jima, Jesus Christ willingly forfeited his life through an extremely painful ordeal that began with scorn and spittle on the face to a severe beating that opened his back and finally to be nailed to a cross. Who was this man? He was the sacrificial Lamb of God, slain from the foundations of the world. He, like Harlon, died young. Messiah was and is at the forefront of a global conflict in which the life, the soul, of our nation is at peril of being obliterated, destroyed and forgotten.
Sellers of gold and silver tell us their treasures will save us from the inevitable global economic collapse, but Jesus said,
“Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.”
“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”
“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”
The reality of Jesus Christ isn’t something that comes to us from reading, including the Bible. The reality of Jesus Christ truly comes only by divine revelation, just as it was for the Apostle Peter and for me. (Ref: Matthew 16:13-17 http://ow.ly/YH4cl )
It is my prayer this morning that all who read this great story about unsung hero Harlon Block will experience a personal relationship with the Son of God by divine revelation. Today, even as you read this, Jesus asks you, “…who do you say I am?”
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Pray for the salvation of America.
The concept of wealth is many things to many people. If you doubt me, just browse a few dictionary definitions of the word. So it is I suggest this simple idea: to be wealthy is to possess more than what you want or need of whatever it is that you highly value.
We probably agree that the first antonym to wealth that comes to mind is poverty. As such, to be poor is to have significantly less of what you want or need of whatever it is that you highly value.
With respect to material wealth, what creates it? To us Texans, oil perhaps comes first to mind. Would the folks associated with the Texas oil patch think so? Our great state is awash in oil, but folks in the oil patch face a bleak future, short-term and long-term.
If natural resources were the true source of wealth, practically everyone on the African continent would live in mansions.
Looking back to history, England became the wealthiest nation on the face of the earth, an empire, in fact, not because of natural resources, though they were and are abundant, but due to the efficient production of goods of all kinds, including food.
In 1776, Adam Smith published his book titled The Wealth of Nations in which he made a case for free-market principles. Those nations that thereafter operated on these principles prospered mightily.
It was not unnatural for American industrialists and their investors to pursue pecuniary interests. I go so far as to say we should all pursue our own pecuniary interests. Selfishness? No. Common sense.
As the wealth of our nation expanded, government likewise enlarged itself. Lawmakers set up agencies to “protect” citizens from “greedy” industrialists. Yes, those greedy indulstrialists who brought us to the pinnacle of wealth and power such as the world never before saw.
Those agencies created to help us became ever more powerful year by year, creating innumerable regulations that now threaten our very existence. For examples, look to the Bureau of Land Management that holds control to over half of the western states. President Nixon intend the Environmental Protection Agency to be an agency for the good of our people; instead, it has become a terroristic, militarized federal rule-making and rule-enforcement agency that now undermines wealth building within our borders. Manufacturers increasingly send jobs overseas to countries where they can more freely produce goods.
But, are federal bureaucracies a cause or an effect? I see them as an effect. By this I mean we as a nation have turned from God, forsaken divine mandates and disobey the laws of the Kingdom of God.
Must federal government be downsized by eliminating federal agencies like the EPA, DOE, BLM and the other alphabet-soup bureaucracies? Will such a move restore our prosperity? Only partly and only after we collectively do the main thing which is to repent of our sins before God.
But the people’s minds were hardened, and to this day whenever the old covenant is being read, the same veil covers their minds so they cannot understand the truth. And this veil can be removed only by believing in Christ.Yes, even today when they read Moses’ writings, their hearts are covered with that veil, and they do not understand.
But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
Only the presence of the Holy Spirit among us can truly restore liberty by which this nation prospered as no other. We will not enjoy the fruits of a free-market society without the aid and assistance of the Author of Freedom. Wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
Holy Scripture is replete with the will of God expressed from the first chapter to the last of sixty-six books, written over thousands of years. Scripture says, “The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.”
America faces economic hardships never before experienced by our forebears. To date, we have killed more of our own than the sum of foreign enemies; we are our own worst enemy.
Big government isn’t the cause of our problems; it is the consequence of our unbelief, our disobedience to the commandments of heaven.
